About Irene De Sola,
Irene De Sola was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She obtained her law degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1982. She is a Senior Partner at De Sola Pate & Brown, a Law Firm located in Sabana Grande, Caracas, Venezuela. Ms. De Sola is co-chair of the Intellectual Property Group together with Mr. Richard N. Brown, Senior Partner of the firm. She focuses her practice on trademarks, patents, copyright and litigation. She was an Adjunct Judge of the Tenth Civil & Mercantile Court of Venezuela, Past President, of COVAPI from 1999-2001 and Board of Directors for ASIPI from 1997-2003. Ms. De Sola has written a few publications including:" Trademark Piracy in Venezuel,." "Intellectual Property in Venezuela," and she has co-authored a chapter on Venezuela in Worldwide Trademark Transfers, (Published by US Trademarks Association). Recently, she wrote for the ASIPI Denomination of Origin Committee an article for the second book entitled "Differences between Trademarks and Denomination of Origin," and analysis of its treatment in the legislations of Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Venezuela. Ms. Desola is a member of the Venezuela Bar Association, Capital District Bar Association, Venezuela Association of Industrial Property Agents- COVAPI, Inter-American Industrial Property Agents-ASIPI, the International Trademark Association- INTA. Inter-American Bar Association and the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property-AIPPI.
